FIN Disposable E-Cigarette Review

I have probably tried around 50 different brands of electronic cigarettes and e-liquids ever since I started vaping, but only one of them has been a disposable (and that one came as a bonus with a starter kit I ordered). I’ve always found the battery&cartomizer formula hassle-free and cost-effective, so I never felt the need to try disposables. But I was recently asked to review a couple of disposables and I jumped at the opportunity to share my thoughts about them with you. One of the two brands I got was the FIN disposable e-cigarette, one of the most popular brands in the US.

Formerly known as “Finity”, FIN is a family owned and operated American company with an established presence especially in conveniences stores and gas stations across the US. You can find there products online, but they seem to be focusing mostly on the offline market. The FIN website and packaging have a retro theme, reminiscent of the 1930’s and 1940’s, also known as the golden age of smoking.

The FIN disposable electronic cigarette comes in a small but good looking cardboard box, featuring the FIN logo, the nicotine strength, and the now common “equals nearly 2 packs of cigarettes” claim. On the back, you’ll notice FIN makes it very clear the e-cigarette is not a cessation device, to avoid any legal problems, and mentions all the usual nicotine warnings. It also has a list of ingredients which happens to be more detailed than what what I am used to. Apart from the nicotine, propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin,  it adds hard-to-pronounce stuff like “methyl cyclopentenelone” and “acetyl pyrazine”. They may sound scary, but they are just two of the most common artificial flavorings. The first is a sweet, caramel-like flavor used in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, while the second is responsible for the nutty notes in popular tobacco e-liquids like 555. They could have just said “flavorings”, but they decided to be specific, which in my book qualifies as commendable. Inside the box you’ll the e-cig sealed in a “reusable plastic tube” that keeps the e-liquid from evaporating.

The e-cig itself is only slightly longer and heavier than a tobacco cigarette, which is sure to make fresh ex-smokers more comfortable. The battery, cartomizer and LED tip are all built in a cardboard tube, so they can’t be replaced, but other than that the e-cigarette looks like a rechargeable cigalike.

Battery life on the FIN disposable e-cig is nothing to write home about, but it’s pretty decent considering its size. That claim about it being the equivalent of almost two packs of conventional cigarettes is a slight exaggeration, as I only used it for about eight hours before the battery died. I remember one pack of smoke lasting me more than that, but I guess it all depends on how often you use it. The battery life of the FIN isn’t very impressive, but I don’t think it’s meant to be either. As far as I’m concerned, these disposable models are meant for emergencies and trying out new e-cigs brands before spending some real money on a starter kit. FIN also sells rechargeable e-cigarettes, so if you like them I suggest you get one of those in the long run.

FIN-e-cig

The automatic switch works remarkably well for a disposable, as you only have to draw on it very lightly to activate the battery. The vapor volume didn’t blow me away, but I must admit I found it was satisfying, especially after a few short primer puffs. Again, this is hardly the most advanced e-cig on the market, but if you’re just getting started with vaping, or if you left your usual e-cig at hand, the FIN works pretty well.

I can’t say I’m a big fan of the FIN’s tobacco flavor, and unfortunately there isn’t much else to choose from. The company currently only sells tobacco and menthol flavored e-cigarettes, and judging by the statement on its official site, that’s not going to change anytime soon. The “About Us” section of the website reads “FIN electronic cigarette products are marketed to existing adult smokers only. We take all necessary precautions to ensure our customer is an existing smoker of traditional cigarettes. We do not manufacture sweet flavors that would appeal to children, nor do we encourage them to smoke. We strongly believe that if you don’t smoke, you shouldn’t smoke FIN.” Apparently FIN agrees with the many electronic cigarette opponents who claim sweet and fruity flavors appeal to children and would have all flavors except tobacco and menthol banned. I can’t say I support their approach, especially since I personally could not go on vaping without my fruit e-liquids. As an adult, I should be allowed access to my favorite flavors, especially since there are other efficient ways of keeping e-cigarettes out of the hands of children. If flavored alcoholic drinks can be sold without them being marketed to children, I don’t see why we can’t take the same approach with e-cigs.

FIN-disposable

Another thing worth mentioning is the FIN’s weak throat hit. Although I received the Bold (2.4% nicotine by volume) strength, and the vapor volume was decent, the throat hit was barely noticeable. Ultra-light smokers may not have a problem with that, but for smokers used to feeling a strong hit in the back of their throat, it could prove an issue.

Overall, I found the FIN disposable e-cigarette pretty average. The battery life was pretty much what I expected from a device this small, the vapor was there, although I was used to much more, and the flavor was…let’s just say I’ve tried worse, but it could also be a lot better. If you’re curious about the brand, or if you just need a few puffs and don’t have a more advanced unit at hand, the FIN works. Otherwise, I’d suggest you get a rechargeable starter kit.

Didn’t like it. It’s suppose to last thru 2 packs and only got like 50 or 60 puffs, and was out.

  • samantha justus says:

I agree they could last a little longer but i regularly use the Fin rechargable e cig and I love the flavor and pretty much everything about them.

  • D.J.Joe Black says:

I juet order it.I dont know about it cause I been smoking for 30 years.I don’t know if some e cigarette could replace my Newport brand that I been smoking for years.

Started with fin in 2013 after 30 years of 3 pack a day habit, and throat cancer. Very happy with flavor, strength, and battery life. Customer service always friendly and orders arrive most times well ahead of usual date,i’m staying with them as long as the ride lasts!

  • annette says:

I was robbed. Cost $11.00 and I could hardly taste anything. I got maybe 30 puffs. Will NEVER try that again!!!!

  • Virginia Spriggs says:

I have been using the Fin for almost 2 years now. Before Fin I tried several e-cigs and liked this one over all the brands on the market. Lately the cartridges have not been lasting as long as they use too. I guess it’s time to move on to another e-cig.

Fin is def one of the best brand in the industry. However, I have tried Zemo ecigs lately when they have a deal on daliysteal, they are just awesomely long lasting, plus a unbeatable price.

I enjoy the fin disposable electronic cigarette cool menthol. When I buy from fin they last longer then when I buy it from ebay. I tried the rechargeable one same brand too strong methods taste.I don’t like strong taste. I used to smoke ultra lite menthol.so there perfect for me. Better than smoking 2 packs a day. I recommend to go through the nicotine patch program first. So u don’t have the expectations and negative feeling. To me I use it when I crave a smoke. Take a couple of hits and I’m ok especially when I’m at a casino

terrible! don’t waste your money! cartridge ran out after about 30 puffs and battery lasted 1/2 day. Awful! will never ever ever buy again! Can I give negative stars???

Disposables are pretty much a waste of money. Those claims of “up to 300 puffs” are just that…claims, and you’ll NEVER get the number of puffs they say you will, regardless of the brand you get. I’ve tried Greenleaf, NJOY, and ZOOM, and NONE of them gave me even 1/4 of the number of puffs they claimed I’d get. Go with rechargeable cartridge-based e-cigs if you can’t afford personal vaporizer devices.

Don’t waste your money on the menthol cartridges. There is at least one bad one in every pack. Last pack of five had two bad ones. They do not respond to email. If you call, you get to leave a message for callback, but never get called back.

I have to say it’s the best I have ever vape .not saying I’m going to lay my aspire down because I like trying different flavors but I will definitely be buying refills for my fin cig

You get alot of puffd from the filter tips whatever you call them…more than I expected. Not knowing much about the ecigs I use them only as a stop-gate measure when I run out of Nicotrol Inhalers which are prescxriptio

Worst Ecig available. Expect 20 puffs then throw it away. Don’t waste your $$$

  • John Long says:

Tastes better than many on the market. It is strong and bold which I like. Draw is decent for a traditional ecig type. Own the rechargeable. Tips last a long time. Overall good buy and great product.

Vapor from this ecig is a joke and it only lasted like 30-40 puffs which is definitely not 2 packs worth of puffs. Poor quality and I got robbed by 9$. DO NOT BUY !!!

These were my introduction to e-cigs and smoking in general. I wanted to at least develop a rudimentary understanding of the practice for reasons that included acting and rather simple ways to pass time with friends who smoke, as well as buying a few extra to diesct and examine the insides (that was really fun.)

Taking my virginal position into account, I quite liked these. My disposables were the mentholated ones. THe flavor was nice and subtle, something I actually miss now that I’ve upgraded to Fin’s Advanced vaping system, which has good flavours but in a much more in-your-face way. (to compare, I’d say the disposables are equal to a mint-flavoured butter mint, whereas the Advanded flavour is equal to the middle of a York patty.

Among the ones I used, I noticed that the one I used initially for short irregular practice runs lasted much longer, than the one I used after becoming more advanced, which ended up dying out after a viewing of “8 1/2” and a small session afterward. Using this experience, I’m thinking that the issue with battery life comes down more to intensity of use, rather than an absolute. The one I smoked all at once became pretty hot during the film, which most likely contributed to the battery dying sooner. And even after it had “died”, I noticed I got about five extra puffs the next day once it had cooled down.

I also have their cirgarette-styled refillable, which is akin to this, only bigger, refillable, and rechargeable. That one is equal to this, I feel, and still quite pleasant for someone who more wants the experience than specifically a strong taste.

LIES AND GARBAGE! Didn’t even replace 1/2 a pack of cigarettes, over priced and didn’t deliver

  • cherstar says:

Pretty bad. You get 1 dispsable for $5 and it lasts thru about 20-30 puffs. It’s very weak hardly any vapor and no flavor. Really leaves you wanting more.

  • Katie Baird says:

Never buy this shit, its a rip off.
    This company is a fraud.

  • lisa jackson says:

I enjoy fin.. last longer than most I’ve tryed ..flavor is great to me.. price..ehhh..I think there kinda high but seem to be the same as other beands .. my only complaint is that stupid pladtic cap is on soooo tight that it pulls the tip right off.. its happened 3 times now ..even after trying to be very delicate ..they are too expensive for this to be happening..I’d be very happy if they replaced the protective plastic thing with something that dident destroy the product ..grrr

  • Milord says:

Fin is the third brand of disposable I have tried and the second rechargeable I have tried. The disposable had a decent but weak flavor. It didn’t last nearly as long as I expected. The replaceable “cartomizer” kit was a better value, but the neither the cartridges nor the batteries lasted long enough to be convenient. The first hit will make you nearly gag, but it weakens quickly and starts to taste like candle wax. I’ll still buy the cartridges in a pinch, but I’m going to try a different system.

I bought a fin disposable and it didn’t work at all. So I emailed the company. They were very helpful and sent me 5 free disposables in the mail, no questions asked.

Only, of the five they sent me, only three worked, and the light started flashing after a couple minutes with the ones that did work.

The disposal FIN e-cigs are a Total fucking waste of money. I’ve purchased 4 of them in the past 4 months, and NONE of them even worked. I was a fool for thinking the NEXT one I would buy would actually work. Thanks for nothing FIN. btw, KRAVE is one of the best disposal e-cigs on the market. Take Heed.

I got my first Fin about 4 years ago. I really liked it. One refill would last me 4 or 5 days. this was great. I wasn’t smoking and saving a lot of money. Now, however, for quite some time, I am lucky if one lasts me a whole day. I even had to buy another starter kit so I would have an extra battery. They don”t last a day either. I tried buying them at different places to see if they were any better with no success. Seems like they really cut back on how they are manufacturing them. Very upsetting. I am now starting to have cravings to smoke and that is the last thing I want to happen!

  • Mary Claflin says:

This product is a joke. Lasted all of 3 minutes at the most. I had bought 3 of them and they were all the same. What a total waste of money. Never will buy again !!!!

  • Guy Pederson says:

Just got the prefilled tanks. They are by far the worst tanks I have tried. They hardly work and if you do get a puff it’s weak. I will never buy any fin products again.

I just started using Fin and I don’t know why everyone is so against Fin, I have used hundreds of different ecigs in the last 3 years and this is by far the best one I have used….. Fin is a Win !!!!!

  • karen forbes says:

Fin’s bold tobacco prefilled tanks are sometimes a clear liquid,, very satisfying. Sometimes, in the identical box, you get a dark liquid that’s half the strength. I’m switching.

What a scam. Bougth one at Walgreens Farmacy of 88 street and 112 av in Miami fl and thar drap did not worked for a single time, like it was allready used and waisted.

Did they go out of business? Their site has been down ‘For Maintenance it says’ for going on 3 weeks now 🙁 Nobody answers e-mails, can’t find any way to confirm if they are alive or not? The availability of their product has been horribly hit and miss over the past few months. I know they were coming to market with a new style V-Tank (The cinnamon already comes in that style) but now it just seems dead in the water….

This is not a review but a question. If Fin is going out of business (boo hoo) how come Walgreens in Glasgow, KY still carry it? Thank heavens for that store!

My Mom used these to quit a life long habit of cigarettes at 73 years old.
I tried hers, I’m a heavy smoker like she was, and loved it.
Not the disposable but battery with cartridges. Loved the
flavor, & even hacked the top, lol & added e-juice!
    I’m a cheap skate…lol
Thinking about getting Fin again, 2023, but not sure they’re still in business
