If you’re looking for something that will leave your mouth smelling like an ashtray without actually lighting up, you’re probably going to love the new tobacco-flavored vodka from Ivanabitch. Created in Holland, distilled five times, and triple filtered over active charcoal, the unusual liquor will be available in both classic tobacco and menthol flavors.
Flavored vodka is really trendy these days, with flavors ranging from popular like peach and orange to spices like cilantro, but who in their right mind would consider creating a tobacco-flavored vodka“With over 45 million people in the United States identifying themselves as smokers, our new tobacco flavored vodkas will be sure to find a niche in the already crowded flavored vodka market,” Ivanabitch CEO Tony Elward explains. “We’re also confident that non-smokers will enjoy the new tobacco flavor product as our customers are always looking for the next big thing.” He admits a lot of people thought he was nuts when he first ran the idea of a tobacco spirit by them, but he was convinced that “to get new drinkers you need a brand that will intrigue the millennial demographic, they don’t want to drink their dad’s drink, or Smirnoff, they want something new and exciting.” Apparently, “no wants wants a peach vodka anymore as there are 20 or 30 of them,” so the tobacco and menthol tobacco flavors started to make sense.
Elward revealed that he came up with the name “Ivanabitch” for his company while going through a bad divorce. “I told my team that I wanted to name it after my ex-wife, and they liked it,” he says. The idea for a tobacco-flavored vodka came about much the same way. The Ivanabitch CEO had taken up smoking again, after a 10-year hiatus, and he was tired of feeling like a second-class citizen whenever he wanted to enjoy a cigarette in a bar. “You need to trundle outside to smoke now,” he complains. “You don’t want to leave your friends but you have a craving. Now you have a vodka that can help that, inside and out.”
Tobacco and menthol vodka doesn’t contain any nicotine or tobacco extracts, just a combination of natural flavorings that make it taste like a cigarette. “You get the nice smell and no harmful effects. There’s no nicotine, no tobacco extracts. Just the taste,” Elward claims. This unique liquor is scheduled to launch in 33 states across America, at the end of the month. It will retail for between $10 and $20, depending on the bottle size.
Recent studies show nicotine patches and electronic cigarettes can help people quit smoking, but if you’re looking for something else to quench your cigarette craving, maybe this new tobacco vodka can help. The designated smoker over at Food Beast said it left his mouth tasting exactly like a cigarette did.
